CHILDREN'S ART CLUB Led by Children's Librarian and local artist, Laura Vickery, the Art Club meets once a week after school for 9 classes. TERRIFIC TODDLERS Our regular schoolyear programs return in September! This special program for kids 18 months to three years includes finger plays, songs, and stories just for them. BOUNCING BABIES Our regular schoolyear programs return in September! We welcome our very youngest library patrons (up to 18 months) every Friday morning for baby bounces, songs, and stories in the Deering Room, with time for grown-ups to visit together afterward. ON VIEW AT THE DYER LIBRARY: T/12x12=Art: An Exploration of Calendrical Time We measure out or days in seasons; in months and weeks and days. But the closer we look at time, the less measurable it seems. Cynthia Collins and J. Mark Koerber have collaborated again to produce a unique set of 12" x 12" paintings that express the soul of the months and days that inhabit our calendar.
There will be an opening for this show at the community gallery in the Dyer Library on Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., open to the public!
Matinee Movie Day: Race to Witch Moutain Jack Bruno is a cabbie who picks up two very special passengers. He ends up with young siblings who happen to have paranormal powers. The two are trying to get back to their space ship which is trapped inside Witch Mountain, a place where strange phenomena are known to occur. If the pair does not get to their ship in time, an alien invasion will begin. Summer Reading Program Event: Dig Into The Deep Sea! Presented by the Children's Museum of New Hampshire, as part of the Summer Reading Program, this event will let children dig into the darkest depths of the deep blue sea! Learn about the deepest trenches of the ocean and the unique bio luminescent creatures that live there! Summer Reading Program Kickoff! Join us to kick off the Summer Reading Program with a performance by magician Peter Boie! Peter is the self-proclaimed "Magician for Non-Believers" and says his magic is about, "Creating an atmosphere where you stop thinking whether it's real or not, and you just enjoy it". This event will take place in the CK Burns School gymnasium from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Free for children and their families. Civil War Movie Event The first in our Civil War Film Series! The first film we will be showing is "Glory" from 1989. The film stars Mattew Broderk, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes and Moran Freeman. Based on the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the first formal Unit of the US Army to be made up entirely of African American men, as told by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw as he fights prejudices of both his own Union army and the Confederates. Rated R, approximately 122 minutes. This will be an outdoor film showing, but in the event of rain will be shown in the Deering Room of the Dyer Library. Free and open to the public! Guests are welcome to bring their own blankets, folding chairs and/or snacks!

Saco Bay Garden Club Annual Plant Sale The Saco Bay Garden Club will be holding their annual plant sale outside the front entrance of the Saco Museum on Saturday, May 18th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please be sure to stop by and see all of the beautiful plants they will have for sale! Dyer Library Summer Reading Program Registration The Dyer Library Summer Reading Program registration will begin after school ends. Come to the Children's Room to receive your new drawstring book bag, bilingual bookmark, reading log and Seadogs voucher ticket. Sign a contract stating how much you will read over the summer, if you meet your goal before school starts you will receive a brand new book of your choice! June 19-August 31
